Moringa powder protein content

moringa powder content protein

Researchers analyzed amino acid compositions in moringa seeds, leaves and roots using gas chromatography method. They recorded that 17 amino acids with Glutamate of highest concentration in g/100g protein. Moringa oleifera root seeds and leaves have limiting amino acids that include Leucine (74.30%), Lysine (69.66%) and Isoleucine (55.59%). These results show that moringa leaf powder and seeds are rich sources of amino acids for both man and farm animals.

Moringa leaves can be used as such suitable for animal feeds and human diet provided the toxicants present in them are removed. They are cooked at low temperature and for shorter duration before consumption. These amino acids with sulfur has been found to be responsible for its effect in regulating functions of various organs hepato protective activity of liver.

Conditional amino acids, non conditional amino acids and essential amino acids play different roles in protein synthesis. Essential amino acids include Methionine, Histidine, Threonine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Valine, Phenylalanine and Tryptophan. Aspartic Acid, Asparagine, Alanine and Glutamic Acid are the Nonessential Amino Acids. Conditional Amino Acids include Glutamine, Arginine, Tyrosine, Cysteine, Glycine, Proline and Serine. These conditional amino acids are important for children as they play vital role in their growth. When they lack these amino acids and essential amino acids, it retards their physical and mental growth. Malnutrition arises in poor children and the condition of the malnourished children in African countries is pathetic.

These proteins are good alternative for people with gluten allergy, lactose intolerance and soy allergy. Amino acids are important for protein synthesis. Proteins requirement is more for athletes, sport persons, lactating mothers and children. They can use leaf powder in different recipes. It is necessary to use minimum cooking. One tablespoon of leaf powder can be added to biscuit / cake flour mix. Same quantity can be used to vegetable soup and boiled for 5 minutes.

Regular intake of fresh cooked leaves is can fulfill daily requirements of calcium, iron and protein requirement. Pure moringa oleifera leaf powder consumption can reduce cholesterol level in the body, regulates insulin secretion and promote digestion. You cannot get fresh leaves during winter season and other conditions. You can buy moringa tree leaf powder that is free from chemicals. This can be used to get beneficial nutrients and keep you energized.
